How to Hide Any Drive in Windows Using Command Prompt



Today i am here with the method to hide drives with CMD. Now almost every second, person in this world is handling the computer. And each of them deals with privacy and everyone is having their personal or sensitive data like pictures, videos, audios and documents on their computer and all these things get stored in our hard drive partitions. Therefore, you need some security to overcome the risk of breaching the privacy. For this, we had a method to hide your internal hard drive partition. How to Hide Any Drive in Windows Using Command Prompt

The method is very simple. By this, you can ensure your privacy by protecting your drive from any unauthorized access to it by hiding it. And you can hide and unhide these drive any time you want to access it according to your convince. Just follow the below steps to proceed.

Step 1. First of all open My Computer and note down the name of a drive which you want to hide. Let it D drive. Now click on a start of windows and type “cmd” there. Now right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Now command prompt window will get displayed in your window screen.

Step 2. Type “Diskpart” there and press enter. Now click on yes on the popup that appears. Now a new window of command prompt will get appear.

Step 3. Type list volume there and then see all your volume list and find the no. of the drive which you want to hide.

Step 4. Let’s select volume 6. Type Select Volume 6 and press enter.



Step 5. Now type Remove Letter G and press enter. (Type the drive letter you want to hide)

That’s it! you are done, now explore your computer and you will see the selected drive will not be in the drive list.

Steps To Unhide Drive With Cmd

Step 1. Simply Repeat the above till 5th step.

Step 2. Now type assign letter G and then press enter.



That’s it! you are done. Now you will see the drive will get unhided and will be displayed in rest of drives list.
