Top Paid Pakistani Cricketers List
One of the most famous sports in the world, cricket has developed into a brand over the years. Modern day cricket is all about earning fat cheques and endorsing products and sponsors. Coming to the Pakistani team, they might not be the richest sportsmen in the world but they are doing well for themselves, compared to the common Pakistanis. Here is a break down of their salaries according to the category they’ve been placed in, in view of their recent contracts.
Category A
Category A players are the highest earners of the team. Players earn a basic Rs 425,000 salary for being a part of the Pakistan team.
The A category includes the greatest captain in Pakistan’s history Misbah-ul-Haq, magician with the ball Saeed Ajmal, former vice captain and known all-rounder Muhammad Hafeezand of course, BOOM BOOM Shahid Afridi. Apart from the salaries, the category A players earn Rs 400,000 per Test match, Rs 330,000 for an ODI and a rather slim Rs 125,000 per T20.
Category B
The category B of the Pakistan’s cricket team include star players like Umar Akmal, Younis Khan, Umar Gul and Ahmad Shahzad. All of them settle for Rs 315,000 per month on a basic salary. Younis might be past his glory days and Umar Gul might be injury prone but they are earning decent for their standards.
Category C
The third category, which is category C includes six Pakistani players who earn around Rs 175,000 per month as their basic set salary. These players include veteran spinner Abdul Rehman, Nasir Jamshed, Test star Azhar Ali, Adnan Akmal who is youngest among the three Akmals, Khurram Manzoor, and Asad Shafiq.
Category D
The latest edition to the Pakistani contracts, the category D includes fifteen Pakistani cricketers with Rs 100,000 as their basic salary per month. Stars featuring in this category are Wahab Riaz, Raza Hasan, Umar Amin, Zulfiqar Babar, Harris Sohail, Rahat Ali, Shaan Masood, Sohaib Maqsood, Bilawal Bhatti, Sarfraz Ahmed, Sharjeel Khan, Fawad Alam, Ehsan Adil, Muhammad Irfan, and Mohammad Talha.
Other incentives and bonuses
Apart from the monthly salaries and per/game wages, the Pakistani cricketers also earn from bonuses and incentives.
Scoring a Century in ODI or Test Cricket Match: Rs 300,000
Scoring double Century: Rs 500,000
Scoring 10 Wicket Haul in Test Cricket Match: Rs 300,000
Defeating Top 3 ranked side and India: 100% bonus
Winning a series against Top 3 side and India: 200% bonus
Winning an ICC Event and Asia Cup: 300% bonus
